Currently, I just picked up some useful contents from xcat.org into new pages, and left space or URL here. There are 3 URLs using that point to SourceForge on xcat.org. I will refine it in new home page:
https://sourceforge.net/p/xcat/wiki/XCAT_OS_And_Hardware_Support_Matrix/ can be replaced by https://xcat-docs.readthedocs.io/en/stable/advanced/mixed_cluster/support_matrix.html?highlight=matrix
https://sourceforge.net/p/xcat/wiki/XCAT_Release_Notes/ should be deleted, because I added ">>more`` link to github release notes already.
"mailing list" sourceforge.net/p/xcat/mailman/ , I even cannot open it from China, but we use "xcat-user@lists.sourceforge.net" this mailing list address based on sourceforge.net
, let me look into how to directly send mail to this mail address here.
I adjust new home page, I delete "News" section, we can find a proper place to put "release information" and "mixed_cluster" urls in new home page.
Wow! Neat!

@whowutwut For 3, I think "GitHub" is enough in navigation bar. The index page is aim to attract freshman. We need to tell freshman xCAT is in github. If user is not freshman, he wants to open or search xCAT issue, usually he know xcat github project issue section and xcat mailing list. I left "Join us" is aim to let freshman to know how to join xcat open source project, the content like https://xcat-docs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/developers/, but I feel the catalog is a little deep for a freshman. We can think carefully about it here.
For 4. I know the problem, I already use "align to container" and "fluid layout", but it display bad on the phone, so I focus on desktop first. Here need to investigate advanced CSS to support multi-platform. I will look into it later.
And another obvious problem is the background picture is too big, it is slow to open the page. If we can find a better free dark blue server room picture, we can replace the star sky background picture. And now, I left 3 video place, they also slow the opening speed, so I will replace the last video to a picture to balance the speed. Since our basic color is blue white and black, it is better to record the video align to the basic color.
Added #63 to point to read the docs for building xCAT from source. The only remaining reference to sourceforge is the mailing list. Due to lack of resources the mailing list will not be changed.
Under the News section, there's URLS that point to SourceForge.
I'm actually wanting to slowly remove all references to source forge and I think we should decide when to start deprecating. When we moved to GitHub, I was met with a lot of resistance for not removing documentation on the Source Forge wiki.
Now it's been 2 years, I think if the documentation section is already on RTD, we should deprecate it on SF so that it moves users towards the newer things that we want moving forward.
However, this issue is just opened because 2 of the URLS under the "News" section point to SF, why is GitHub not used
