Hell yeah it is active. That something doesn't get as many pull requests as the linux kernel per day doesn't mean it ain't active.
The last code update on the main branch was 19 days ago. But it's probably highly active on other branches. Probably private ones that haven't been pushed yet.
the vulkan branch is the main focus right now. I'm guessing at the moment @benvanik and others are familiarising themselves with the vulkan API before they do anything too big
This project has been for over three years, and has a pretty set history of alternating periods of activity and inactivity. A month of inactivity is not uncommon.
In comparison to the RPCS3 project it's going pretty slow. But I think that's because not many people are big fans of MS/Xbox and rather contribute to the RPCS3 project.
@MightyFo0l you should get a job as a project manager, basing progress on lines of code/number of commits is the exact rubbish they would come up with!
I'm not basing that on the amount of lines of code at all, but more on community activity and the amount of playable games. It was not my intention to offend anyone.
Also compare https://github.com/RPCS3/rpcs3/pulse to https://github.com/benvanik/xenia/pulse
Xenia coming to Patreon page ? https://www.patreon.com/
Developing a fully functional emulator is a massive time-consuming project. With donations you can show your appreciation for this effort and at the same time support the development.
If that would speed up development I would gladly donate.
I am very happy this Project is still very alive and active. Maybe I am crazy but I prefer xbox 360 to PS3. Nothing beats a good session of Halo I can also run way more games in Xenia than in RPCS3. Yes I would also be happy to donate Cemu Devs are doing it so why not you.....
@MightyFo0l that doesn't not show what happens in forks e.g:
This branch is 84 commits ahead of benvanik:master. Latest commit af7fc20 2 days ago @DrChat DrChat Beginnings of texture conversion/uploads
So clearly not dead.
O nice I didn't know that branch.
Maybe it might be an idea to make a twitter account or blog to post updates about the project, so more people 'outside' the project know what key developers are working on. It's hard to grasp what's going on just by looking at this Github page.
Just idle in IRC and watch what devs are doing. They do this in their free time so it wouldn't make sense to keep posting "I'm now doing X Y Z" on twitter or whatever.
I check the compatibility page every day, to see new entries and dev feedback on the issues. Hence i stalk Razzile and gibbed input on the compatibility page. Cheers guys
PS, sorry I forgot your input SakataGintokiYT
Please don't make issues like this, they're absolutely unnecessary.
As for progress, I've been working on the Vulkan backend for the past week. Mainly have been setting up rendering architecture, will work on getting visible output next.
+1 on DrChat said, and i propose to make main branch the vulkans branch... Why?
xenia doesn't use, nor plans to use DX12
Obviously the vulkan branch will be merged to master when its ready just like any other WIP branch.
This should just be closed, but regarding the state of the project, benvanik is busy at work, which would explain the slump:
so the project is dead ok thanks
obvious troll ?
Maybe low IQ
The only thing this guy has ever contributed to is .gitignore file, clearly low IQ.
looking on his profile at the other comments he's made he looks like a.) a major troll or b.) a massive douche
c.) a genius.
hasnt been a update in god knows how long so are you guys alive or did vulkan break everything
