Preferred term label

transient tracheoesophageal septum

Synonyms

transient TES tracheoesophageal septum esophagotracheal septum

Textual definition

Temporary septum formed from epithelial tissue dividing the esophagus from the trachea. After mesenchymal invasion this gives rise to the permanent tissue separating the esophagus from the trachea.

Suggested is_a parent term(s)

septum (See new term request)

Suggested part_of parent term(s)

anterior foregut (XAO:0005127)

At later stages this is arguably part of both trachea (XAO:0000118) and esophagus (XAO:0000127), but they don't exist until ~ NF 40 (I am putting in a separate ticket asking to change the staging for those terms). Can something be part_of something that arises after it?

Suggested dev_from parent term(s)

tracheoesophageal folds (See new term request)

Suggested NF start stage.

stage 39 (XAO:1000051)

Suggested NF end stage.

NF stage 44 (XAO:1000056)

Updated staging, definition and added a point of consideration for parent terms.
