I like it, but it can get annoying is there a way to uninstall or disable it?

Depending on the way you have setup the plugin, you can disable it in Ubuntu by
executing:
sudo pam-auth-update
and then deselecting the entry of the pam-face plugin

I do not see pam-face plugin entry in the list of modules to be
activated/deactivated.

It would be cool if there was a more in depth way to get rid of it. I don't
have the pam-face entry in the list. I have the following list:
- Unix authentication
- Winbind NT/Active Directory authentication
- Gnome Keyring Daemon - ...
- *empty*
- ConsoleKit Session Management

Would be great to know how to get rid of it entirely!
