Viewing on macOS #74

After hearing about the update on Wololo.net, I was quite excited! Being visually impaired means that most menus in apps like VitaShell or RetroArch are insanely hard to work - so I usually sit down, configure what i want in one go and then just...go and start games from the LiveArea. But being able to occasionally stream the content of my screen to my MacBook that I usually backpack with me is really neat!

Unfortunately, when I installed mpv, I quickly got reminded that macOS != Linux. How I'd forgotten? I don't know... But, /dev/videoX is obviously not available since they use a wholly different AV capture system, a whole framework and uri, in fact (avcapture://$deviceIdentifier).

However, whenever I try to just find an app that lets me do that, I get bombarded with old chat software, OBS tutorials and the likes (go google, I s'ppose...). The only thing I found so far is: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/quick-camera/id598853070?mt=12

However, this one doesn't allow me to select a lower resolution to get a higher FPS. Right now, the feed doesn't even feel like 30 fps - it feels just bad. XD

Any idea how I can stream the Vita to my display...without it being a near-slideshow? Thanks!

Looking for the same thing here. Found out that QuickTime can be used for similar results: https://www.applegazette.com/mac/record-your-mac-webcam-quicktime-vlc/

Can't say it made any difference FPS-wise, but it allows for recording without 3rd-party stuff.
