Fixes for modern OCaml compilers:

since 4.02.0 it has become unsafe to use "noalloc" in the way that bitstring does.
since 4.06.0 the -safe-string is the default and string values cannot be mutated anymore, so use the new bytes type instead.

Thanks ! That will deserve a version bump due to the change in minimum OCaml version requirement.
