Description

QuickCapture templates make it easy for project authors to quickly deploy a ready-to-use solution to your organization. Starting from the 1.8 release, users are provided with better QuickCapture templates – solution-based templates in Designer. The new QuickCapture template includes a number of items that cover the workflow from data collection to data visualization. Depending on the use case the solution addresses, a QuickCapture template usually includes the following:

Test

To use a template,

  1. Sign in to QuickCapture Web Designer:
  2. Click New Project and select Start from template.
  3. Choose one template.
  4. Before using a template, you can preview the layout of the QuickCapture project, and read the descriptions of this template.
  5. Click Use template.
  6. Optionally, rename the project, the data recovery email, and the solution folder name.
  7. Click Create to confirm the deployment.

Verify

  1. Verify the selected QuickCapture template is successfully deployed. A new folder is created in 'My Content' under your account, and all of the ArcGIS items included in this template will be created and saved in the new folder. The content is also summarized in a new solution item that helps you visualize related ArcGIS items.
  2. Download the project to the QuickCapture mobile app, submit records to the project. Verify that records are sent successfully, and can be displayed in the dashboard apps.

I test two solution templates and it works pretty fine, it deploys all the components and even automatically recognizes if the folder already exists (adding a number at the end). I have two observations:

  1. The dashboards deployed into the Occupancy Counter solution works with ArcGIS Dashboards (Beta). I have to assume that the rollout of the solutions with beta items is aligned with the rollout of the products because it doesn't have a disclaimer on the solution that uses Beta components. It would be helpful if a project designer is aware that the solution uses beta components of the ArcGIS Platform
  2. The item names inside the solutions are all the same and aligned to the Project Name, it's useful but when I pretend to share it into my organization I'll have to rename the Dashboards Item Title so my coworkers could see if it's the mobile version or the desktop version image

I tested the BioBlitz template. The template deploys easily. Observations:

  1. Dashboards: Agree with Leandro above that adding Mobile and Web to the Dashboard name will help us when sharing to others.
  2. Regarding the 1 Feature Layer and 2 Feature Layer Views Item Descriptions: Would be useful for new users to provide a more detailed description of how and where the Views are being utilized as all three are named the same.

BioBlitz Template More of a Dashboard observation. I see the template is creating an old OpsDashboard. Will this automatically change to the new Dashboards in mid April with the new AGOL release?

@menzelc If the template contains Classic Dashboard, it won't automatically update to the Beta Dashboard. But you can create a Beta one for yourself. After your template is successfully deployed, simply save as the Classic Dashboard, it will create a copy of the dashboard and gives you the Beta Dashboard.
