The tar.gz package which can be downloaded from home page is using Unix EoL 
convention.

Also : note that, if you prefer downloading with SVN, SVN has built-in 
conversion capabilities to native EoL format.

I prefer not having to do do on the fly conversions. I'm quite sure
that having an additional byte per line for no good might be removed.

"no good" seems a bit dismissive to Windows users.
If you need Unix EoL, please use either the .tar.gz distribution package, or 
SVN built-in capability to convert EoL on the fly.

Windows users do not have problems with unix line ending since winxp
IIRC, thus my statement that the additional byte per line doesn't add
value for anybody, I might be wrong about it.
