Tethering UID 0 - blocked #62

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Starting mobile ap on galaxy s.
The devices that connect can't access the internet.

Galaxy S froyo, JPA

Turning DroidWall off solves the issue.

Mobile AP is a wireless tethering application built-in Galaxy S.

If I try to share the internet connection with somebody, droidwall's log shows 
blocked packets on UID 0 and the shared WLAN connection does not work on the 
other device.

I understand now.

UID 0 is the "root" user. Please allow the "(root) - Applications running as 
root" in DroidWall, and see if it works.

But won't this allow all root apps to access the internet? What if I install 
some malware that requires root for example (without knowing...)

Yes. This is how Android (and Linux) works.
Anyway, if the app already has root access it can do anything on your phone... 
a malware would simply and easily bypass the iptables firewall ;)
