NOTE: We suggest that you post on the Tunnelblick Discussion Group before
submitting an "Issue". (http://groups.google.com/group/tunnelblick-discuss)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Repeatedly Connecting on 27" iMac 2011
2.
3.

What is the expected output?

What do you see instead?
System Crash

What version of Tunnelblick are you using? On what version of OS X?
Latest Beta

Please provide any additional information below. Please include your
configuration file and the contents of the OpenVPN Log window (including
the first few lines with version information), but remember to remove any
sensitive information such as IP addresses.

I've installed Lion on both an old Macbook Pro and a new iMac 27" (same latest
beta Tunnelblick and identical configuration files)

On the 2009 Macbook Pro it worked. (I have VMWare installed)

On the iMac it kept disconnecting and reconnecting and then suddenly my mac
crashed (log showed it crashed in program : ifconfig) (I also have VMWare but
additionally Parallels)

Another +1 from me. My repeated-refresh issue (that I *partially* fixed by
regression the openvpn install) appears to be resolved now. Yay :) thank you.

I installed the new version today on a macbook pro and a macpro. It worked
okay on the macbook pro and I was able to connect.

However, on the macpro it became unresponsive with a rotating, rainbow circle.
The OS was initially responsive to command-tab but then finder became
unresponsive. I tried both versions of openvpn and they both exhibited the
same problem.

Tunnelblick said that the openvpn process was unresponsive.

Just prior to the rainbow circle, I tried pinging and ping got hung and would
not quit when I typed a ctrl-c.

Right after successful connection, I tried pinging the addresses of the local
and other end of the vpn and it failed to find the IP addresses.

What files do you want to see?

@pizzaman...@gmail.com -

Thanks for your report.

Does using OpenVPN 2.1.4 make any difference on the MacPro? (You can select it
on the 'Preferences' panel of the 'VPN Details…' window.)

Sorry; I missed your comment that you had tried both versions.

Is the macpro the same computer that you've had all the other problems
described in private emails to me (e.g., hang on shutdown)?

Is the macpro using "connect when computer starts"? Does the problem happen
even if you don't?

Yes, the macpro is the same computer I have had the other problems with.

Neither computer is using "connect when computer starts".

I forgot to mention that both computers hung at the gray screen with the
rotating circle when being shut down even with the new version. Upon doing a
chkdsk /f on startup, one file an a bunch of directories were unlinked.

Tried new beta29 on MacPro/Quad-Core Xeon today and it seems to fix this crash
issue (beta28 was not). No hangs or any other issues.
Waiting for a new 'public' beta with 'release' tap driver built.
Thank you!

I have uploaded Tunnelblick 3.2beta30 (build 2780), which contains the
experimental tun/tap kexts. You can download it from the Downloads page,
http://code.google.com/p/tunnelblick/wiki/DownloadsEntry?tm=2.

Note: It also contains the old kexts, which are used if the OS is not 10.7
"Lion", and has additional localization.

I'd like everyone to try it, please, and report here ONLY IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS.

Thanks!

Initial tests are positive. It connects, doesn't crash and doesn't cause
grey-screen lockup when shutting down the computer; this is good.

I have noticed one issue. I am unable to set a configuration to connect when
the computer starts. I have tried several times, rebooted, etc. and can't make
it work.

I think we were asked very clearly to:
I'd like everyone to try it, please, and report here _ONLY IF THERE ARE
PROBLEMS_.

Well, he was reporting a problem -- it just wasn't the kernel panic.

He's correct; connect when the computer starts' is broken in beta30. I have
committed a fix to the source code, and will supply him privately with a build
so he can try it.

Please, reserve this Issue for the kernel panics. Report anything else on the
Tunnelblick Discussion Group at

Unfortunately, after two hours of an openvpn connection being active my macpro
hung. I decided to try disconnecting the openvpn connection to test whether I
could disconnect and reconnect. When I selected disconnect at the tunneblick
icon, the icon darkened, I got a rainbow cursor, and the computer became
completely locked. The mouse moved but nothing else. I even tried remotely
pinging it, sshing to it, looking for it in finder browser and it was not
responsive in any manner.

The openvpn server side crashed. The client end happily continued to try to
connect.

I have the very same issue. Tunnelblck connects, reconnects after about 20
seconds and randomly I get a kernel error.

Tunnelblick 3.1.7 (build 2190.2413)
OpenVPN: 2.1.4
OSX: 10.7.2

Tunnelblick 3.1.7 does not work with 10.7; use 3.2beta32. See the Downloads
page for details.

jsut upgraded to 3.2.3 build 2891.2932. the previous version was crashing my
mac os x lion 10.7.2 like a hell. Crashes could happen each 30 minutes.
Situations with 2-3 crashes per week were normal. server vpn software: openvpn.

ill monitor the new version.
