Feature/fix pdf generation #389

Hopefully this fixes the issues. Mostly just trying to run the build.

issues found:

content-only broken since sphinx 4.5
extra indent space broke the pdf build

closes #387

I agree it's not as neat (as mentioned in my issue). But as of right now, I believe "content-only" prevents pdfs from being built at all. So it's a bit of a trade off.
