showip do not display anything in the status bar

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.I installed the latest version from
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/590 
2. Restart Firefox 
3. Open an URL like www.google.com

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The expected output is an ip address in the status bar but i do not see
anything 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The latest version from mozilla.org. Apple OS X 10.6.2, Firefox 3.5.5

Please provide any additional information below.

Need more info. What is your network setup? Any proxy?

still doesn't work reopen this bug with the relevant information.
