Could you try installing the add on status-4-ever? it works fine in that for
me.

Hmm, I just tried in a fresh profile under Linux and it works as expected. Did
you upgrade from 4.0 to 5.0b3 or did you start with a fresh profile?

It was an update from 4.0.1 t0 5.0b1 and so on to b3 ("following" the beta
channel).
I tried in a new profile to install ShowIP 1.1rc3, and at first it worked, but
as soon as I installed other add-ons that deal with the add-on bar, it was gone
again (I usually use extended status bar, and I also tried status-4-evar
suggested above).
After a bit of uninstalling and reinstalling the three (extended status bar,
ShowIP and status-4-ever), I finally managed to have ShowIP visible. I don't
know if this is an incompatibility between the first two add-ons, a bug in one
of them or even a FF bug (it is a beta, after all).

If it doesn't appear in the addon-bar, is it possible to add it via View >
Toolbars > Customize?

I've installed v1.1 on another FF5.0b3 on Windows XP SP3. As I already said in
my first post, I was able to add it from the Customize Toolbar box, but it
seemed inactive (it kept showing only "ShowIP" and left- or right-clicking it
didn't do anything). But, as it turns out, you need to restart the browsers
afterwards and it works. Just dragging it to the add-on bar or toolbar doesn't
"activate" it. My apologies for the noise.
