If you have a device with two (or more) SPST relays using the "one and only one ON" sync setting you force the firmware to check that only one the of the relays are on AND that there is at least one switched on. This - in a two-relay board - will make it behave like a SPDT relay with NO and NC outputs. Just what you need to build a 3-way switch.
You just have to replace one of the two blue boxes in the image below with you device, each of the two lines that connect the two blue boxes will be connected to one of the relays.
