I've been accidentally hitting it endlessly, so much so that the first save slot has become unusable (due to repeated accidental overwriting), and has kinda been "reserved" now for these mistaken "saves"... :)
[x] But DO NOT renumber the save slots just for this: F2 should still save to slot 2, F3 to slot 3 etc.
Slot 1 should now just be OFFICIALLY reserved...
[x] Use F1 as an alternative for ? instead.
Obviously, there should be a better UX for this (e.g. a ring buffer + tagging/renaming after-the-fact etc.), but, for now...
