Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

Hi, I just wanted to ask what happend to the latest MS-Speed Up feature. It
seems that the effect of it gone. I tried the earlier versions and it worked.
But it seems the newest version has no effect. Mind checking out Devs? Thank
You. (Maybe because the MS-Speed Buffer was removed)

Agreed; Last working version is "nightly_b13_rev_f6312063516a" Possibly b14
worked cause I think only a bug in the compiler for linux was fixed (Haven't
tested b14), but anything from "b15 rev_96f72f8e6518" and above, MS SpeedUp
hack is broken.

Tested on PSP3000 3G and PSP1000 1G

In fact you cannot increase buffer size unlimitedly. Because they are in kernel
memory which is precious for some models when running some plugins. Beside too
large buffer would hurt random IO access performance. The performance regressed
in thew new version. But it's for a reason. Don't be too greedy.

I don't really think the MS-Speedup feature helps memory sticks that are really
fast since there's a limit on the hardware. My SanDisk SDMSPDH-016G-A11 benches
around 30MB/s on both reads and writes yet I only get 10MB/s max on the PSP.
