Solution is to reinstall the Latex Compiler. I reinstalled the light version (https://tug.org/mactex/morepackages.html) the full version will most probably work.
I get a similar error with a script like this
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
\maketitle
Hello
$x^2+y^2=z^2$
\end{document}
And I get the error
Failed to compile
Failed to compile bibliography
The evince page still pops up, but now it doesn't auto-reload, which defeats the purpose of having live preview in the first place. I installed the latest MacTex but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

What happens if you install a more updated version of vim with homebrew? (brew install vim
)
Did you try reinstall the latex compiler linked above? It's been a while, but I think reinstalling that worked for me (or maybe it was something else).
I'm having the same issue, on ArchLinux:

Wait, nvm, suddenly it works. Doing a brew uninstall neovim; brew install neovim
fixed the issue.
Not applicable for me, since I'm not using brew/macOS.
@hobarrera Can you build the pdf successfully outside Vim?
@xuhdev Yes, pdflatex cv.pdf
worked fine.

I have the same issue on arch - compiling just fine with pdflatex outside of vim
@ecly could you provide your working pdflatex command and the output of :echo b:livepreview_buf_data
after running :LLPStartPreview
in vim?
@badouralix Running a hello world in latex with the following input of test.tex:
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
Hello World!
\end{document}
I can run pdflatex successfully with plain: pdflatex test.tex
.
In vim with the same tex file open, the result of :echo b:livepreview_buf_data
after attempting to run :LLPStartPreview
gives:
{'root_dir': '/home/ecly', 'tmp_dir': '/tmp/vim-latex-live-preview-NUNBVM', 'run_cmd': 'env TEXMFOUTPUT=/tmp/vim-latex-live-preview-NUNBVM/home/ecly TEXINPUTS=/tmp/vim-latex-live-preview-NUNBVM/home/ecly:/home/ecly: bibtex /tmp/vim

I guess you don't get the error Failed to compile
, but only Failed to compile bibliography
.
Do you have any .bib
file in your directory or subdirectories?
@badouralix Roger - it seems my issue was unrelated to theirs. My bad - I had set up a simple test.tex in a directory in which there were other directories, one of which has a previous latex project. I moved the .tex file to a directory of its' own and it works. Thanks for pointing out that behavior!
Cool! Still, this behavior is kind of buggy, and my bet is that using latexmk
as suggested in #38 will fix it properly.
@badouralix actually same result with latexmk, using:
let g:livepreview_engine = 'latexmk -pdf'
But for all practical applications I'll have it in a directory of its own anyways, so I won't complain!
Failure because of these lines: they should be removed when using latexmk
@badouralix ah, alright! I'll keep that in mind if I go over to using latexmk! Cheers!

When I run :LLPStartPreview in an empty file
It returns
Error detected while processing function
line 63:

Press ENTER or type command to continue
If I run in a nonempty file(ex: helloworld.tex) It will stock for a long time and return Failed to compile bibliography
Does anyone know what's wrong?

Sorry, I'm relatively to Vim and the command line in general actually, so I've probably missed something obvious here. Anyway, I've just installed the plugin with Vundle on the latest Mac OS using the latest Vim installed from Homebrew. When I try to run this example code from Wikipedia:
I get this error:
There doesn't appear to be bibliography, so why would it fail to compile? Also, a new window of Evince is still opened when the compilation fails, which is a little annoying since you have to close them one-by-one.
