Not the best/intended solution, but I found a hacky way to be able to look at the .log
file, which is to just go to the temporary folder that is created during compulation and examine the files manually.
For instance, in my system temporary compilation folders created by vim-latex-live-preview
are located under /tmp
. You can go to /tmp
, sort the compilation folders by time with ls -t -l
(as there will probably be a few and you want to look at the most recent one), cd
to the lowest level of that folder and look at the .log
file there.
This is not a permanent solution to the fact that compilation messages are not shown, but if you are having trouble debugging your Latex it may be useful.
I just switched to https://github.com/lervag/vimtex
It lets you do live preview, and shows errors in a buffer
I'm sorry that I no longer have the time to maintain this project. If you find a good alternative, feel free to switch over!
@grenzionky thanks for the tip!
@xuhdev no worries totally understandable. It's a very good plugin anyway :)

not sure if this is a bug, or its just not part of the plugin, but error messages dont show, so its extremely hard to figure out what i did wrong. i just get the message
Failed to Compile
Expected behavior
error messages should show so that i know what i did wrong
Actual behavior
only
Failed to Compile
showsSystem configuration
