One thing that i have figured out u can do is to get backgrounder from cydia 
and set 
it into background mode and u can atleast hear it ring out loud if  u have the 
2g

That was I did but having backgrounder and siphon running at the same time wast 
a
lot of memory. The author of siphon probably has some other reasons for not
integrating this feature into the newer version since he decided not to summit 
it to
apple store. The older version has this feature so, I think,it's not so hard to 
put it
back.
