comparison between SIPHON - SIAX - FRING on Iphone 2G and EDGE mode #169

1) I tried the 3 different programs  on a 2G jailbreaked Iphone  and EDGE 
mode
2) On a WIFI connection the subjective quality of the voice transmission 
is perfect on all 3 using as SIP provider POIVY or INTERVOIP
3) Using the EDGE mode with the same SIP provider I have noticed that 
despite the teoretically delayed transmission on FRING, due to the Fring 
server ( at least 38 ms), the Fring "subjective voice quality" was the 
best and more fluid
4) SIAX has the possibility to define the Codec and the use of GSM codec 
seemed to work better than SIPHON , but teoretically  SIAX ans SIPHON have 
the same code and there should be no difference

Questions?:

1) Why should we prefere SIPHON to SIAX?
2) The choice of the codec is done automatically or we can choose it in 
the advanced settings?

1/ Siphon is original !!! The speed rate of EDGE is too slow/weak.
2/ In the next version Siphon will allow to select manually the codec to use.

The SIPHON codecs are G711 GSM and G722
Could you imagine in the future to use also other CODECS as ILBC, AMR  , or 
others?
