Any method to conduct Trajectory Balancing for unbalanced panel data #9

Hi Prof. XU:

Grand thanks for your brilliant work on the package! I am a graduate student new to computational social science. I would like to apply Trajectory Balancing to my dataset, which is about the media depiction to regimes worldwide by month with COVID shock. However, not every country has been depicted every month, so the dataset is not a balanced panel data. I see that in your package that data frame must be a balanced panel.

I am sorry that I am a green hand and is not familiar with the methods. Many thanks for your invaluable help and guidance!

Sincerely yours, Julian

Hi Julian,

Could you describe your data structure. It'd be better if you can visualize your data (esp treatment assignment) using the panelView http://yiqingxu.org/software/panelView/panelView.html package.

Best, Yiqing

  • Thus, are there any (ongoing or prosepctive) extensions of Trajectory Balancing to unbalanced dataset?
  • Also, it would be great if you could kindly suggest some alternative method to conduct Trajectory Balancing to unbalanced dataset, if appropriate.

I am sorry that I am a green hand and is not familiar with the methods. Many thanks for your invaluable help and guidance!

Sincerely yours, Julian

Hi Yiqing:

Many thanks for your reply. It is end-of-term for me, so it may take a while for me to respond to the description. I shall get back to you if I have the result.

Best regards, Julian
