Screenshot can be logically set as the featured image of the settings-revision post type.
In a separate issue, there should be another interface for browsing old revisions. Specifically, there could be a view in the WP Admin or in a lightbox over the customizer that has a timeline view with thumbnails of each revision's screenshot. This would allow you to very quickly scrub back to visually see when a change was made. How's that for permanence :-) And actually, this might be better served by another standalone plugin which can integrate with Settings Revisions. I imagine lots of people would like to take regular snapshots of their site for archiving.
The WP.com revisions interface gives a screenshot of the site in a given state. Looks like this can be done with JS: http://html2canvas.hertzen.com/examples.html
