Alas. Requiring PHP 5.3 to let us use features like closures or namespaces results in the plugin not being usable by many installs which are stuck on PHP 5.2. So the current PHP 5.3 features can be refactored to eliminate the new features, but perhaps leave a trace which will allow them to be easily restored in the future.
