that is diifcult to debug. Can you run logcat and see if there is any
indication why the system kills OpenVPN for Android?

While in theory I can do that it is indeed a difficult task for two reasons:

1. The notification seems to disappear randomly and I have no idea how to
reproduce it. Sometimes it's a matter of minutes, sometime it's a matter of
hours. The only lead I got is that I saw it disappearing after decrypting
e-mails via GnuPGP. But maybe that was just an coincidence.

2. The app does not close immediately after the notification disappears. It's
also "random" but most likely when too much ram is used by other apps.

So yes: I can try to do a log cat of this happening but it will take some time
for me to catch it at the right moment(s).

PS:
1. What level of verbosity do you want me to log?
2. Could the logs contain sensitive information that should not be posted in
public?
3. If you need a more accurate explanation or other information we can also
talk in German on some other channel if you want.

You can send the log to my email address arne@rfc2549.org

I know frusting that is what I am aksing but I have no idea what could cause
the app to be terminated :/ Also if you leave log window open try to check if
openvpn still has any log and if there is something in the log.

Roger that!

I just cleared everything and will be providing the openvpn generated logs and
logcat on "debug". Now we have to wait until it disconnects by itself...

Fun-Fact: Now the OpenVPN Notification disappears immediately after connecting.
Only the key symbol remains. (even after restarting the phone)

Logs will be sent to your address provided.

Thanks for your fast reaction time! :)

If the notification disappear immedately after connecting that is bug. Are you
sure the notification really disappears? The icon should disapear but the
notification should be still visible if you swipe down the notification area.

Ok, now I feel stupid because we have a major communication mistake here: Every
time I said "notification" I really meant "icon"!

The notification in the notification area is still there right now.

I'll have to wait and see if that one disappears when my VPN disconnected.

Still: The app worked flawless in the past and all of a sudden I get problems
with the vpn disconnecting and not reconnecting even though I set it to
reconnect for unlimited attempts. I triple checked that on three different VPNs
from different providers that work without disconnects on my linux machine. So
I will keep the log running and send you the results.

Sorry for the confusion. :\

Resolved via email. After AUTH_FAILED the client exits.
