unchecked xml_cdr_view blocks the whole Apps menu #114

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Login as superadmin.
2. Goto Advanced->Group Manager.
3. Uncheck the 'xml_cdr_view' checkbox in the 'user' group permissions.
4. Press 'Save' button.
5. Logout.
6. Login as a user of group 'user'.
7. Click 'Apps' menu.
"Access denied" message is shown.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Any other 'Apps' submenu contents should appear (e.g. 'Voicemail').

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
r1253

Please provide any additional information below.
Unchecked 'extensions_active_view' checkbox blocks the 'Status' menu the same
way.

You must be using the default theme that uses the split menu. Which means you
have to click on a page and go somewhere and if you don't have access to the
page you are going you would be blocked. There are two solutions. 1. Use the
enhanced theme which uses a pure CSS drop down menu. 2. For those using the
default theme create a page and set the menu to use it for Apps that all users
would have access to. The default theme is the default because its more
accessible for the blind than the enhanced theme. But I prefer the enhanced
them.

This is really not a bug because it is known behavior of the split menu that is
in the default theme. It could be improved to use a generic apps page.

I will make that generic page and adjust the menu.

Yes, I'm using the default theme (frankly speaking I didn't know how to change
theme before :) ).

Closing this support ticket since the default theme mentioned is no longer the
default.
