> Embedding and a live preview with export if needed sealed the deal for me.

Why do you find the Live Preview useful? I am intrigued by some users who use the WYSISWYG editors with half the screen taken up by the live preview!!!

(Personally, I get more value from having other text that I have written for reference and idle checking on the whole screen, as much as possible and prevent duplication. So, I want to find the value in a live preview and see if there is a hole in my workflow which can be filled using a live preview)

I am curious because I am sure you have written Markdown long enough to know what it looks like and VSCode's Markdown editor does the basic formatting for blockquotes, code blocks and headings (I presume, for I have never used it).

I write and read my notes 99% of the times in plain text VSCode.

However, Live Preview comes in handy once in a while, for example, to view an embedded image. Most of the times I avoid embedding images for the reasons that you described: It is better to note down the essence, rather than make the notes a dumping ground with too much information.

But in a few rare occasions, images are convenient, and I can't open the note in Typora just to view the image. As I usually have a split pane already open, the viewer directly opens to the file at that line. Moreover, It is a simple handy shortcut Cmd+K V away.

Example of images in my notes I can't remove https://uploads.disquscdn.c...
