What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Navigate to page with frame
2. ChromeVox-R will not read content within frame
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Should read content within frame and provide different levels of reading
granularity (by word, letter) and structural voicing (e.g. headings, tables)
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ChromeOS or Chrome on Mac
Please provide any additional information below.
The problem when using (the Bookshare) Web Reader with ChromeVox is that the
content in Web Reader’s iFrame is invisible to it. Web Reader offers word
level highlighting but doesn’t have the navigation options that a blind user
needs. For example, it’s not possible to navigate by character, word,
sentence, paragraph, or heading level. Also, there isn’t a way to control how
much punctuation is read. If ChromeVox could treat the content in Web
Reader’s iFrame as a webpage, these options would be available through
ChromeVox. When using Firefox and Web Reader with JAWS, Window-Eyes and NVDA,
these options can be used because these screen readers recognize the content
within the iFrame.
