No maps shown on X20S transmitter #3

Hello,

After some day,s puzzling I achieved to have the widget running. The last part namely the maps in the display is not function.(NO MAP DATA) To the best of my knowlede I followed the instructions precisly. I used the GMapCather( C:/images ) as file location Copied the files from 100x100 to -1,-2,0 to the SD card My GPS is running from openXsensor data showed in the widget like coordinates etc. So it looks like that is function. Any clou howe to fix this propblem and or where went it wrong.

Hello edgeflyer30,

The maps in the folder as described by yaapu. Sd/bitmaps/yaapu/maps/sat_tiles/100x100 used as per recommendation also just sat_tioles. All no go. As I received only your response I changed to the maps feature as posted by hobby4live. Also on github and via his website. Have a look into that one. Also doubt full result sometimes the transmitter switches to emergency mode? It uses the microsoft bing maps. The packet comes with a map generator.

which widget are you using? Are you using Ardupilot?

Hello Allesandro, Nice to hear. Widget? I just downloaded and installed on the SD card via usb. The map generated by street vieuw. My transmitter FrSky x20s with latest update. All seems to work apart from NO MAP DATA. What exactely means by widget ardupilot? Sorry to not understand the use of ardupilot. I had a look into that and get the ideer it is for drones. Still like your map to use . Like to hear. Regards Theo Any question for further info/date will be ansered.

Street view is not a supported map provider, did you follow the wiki to setup the map tiles? https://github.com/yaapu/EthosMappingWidget/wiki/Google-offline-MAP-tiles-downloading

Today I tested the ardupilot map. And the gmapresize. All seems to work accept showing the map still. Even the GPS coordinates etc. is shown on the display To my opinion there is something with the destination map when choosing the map on the SD card. Then the destination gives by the system F:/bitmaps/yaapu/mapsimages/yaapu/maps ( not tickes the box ETHOS OS or F:/bitmaps/yaapu/maps/bitmaps/yaapu/maps ( with box ticked ETHOS OS)

Both tested no map shown on the display When I gmapsresize to C:/ for instance it makes a folder which I can,t find on my laptop.

All looks ok apart from showing the map. Any help is more than welcome. If for instance I have to make log files or something I will do so to give you a inside vieuw.

Yes mate mine works now. The gmapresize tool with ethos ticked still puts your maps in the wrong place. Go onto your SD card and move the maps folder to SD/bitmaps/Yaapu/maps/Googlesatellitemap Here there should be now 20 folders of data. I think it should work now. Let us know!

Hello,

Just tested the change of folder for the files. Whatever I placed the file folder no map on the display. To be clear we speak not about the flash drive in the SD.

When I look into the file system on the transmitter howe exactly looks the path for the files? In my system I get SD:/bitmaps/yaapu/maps/MAPS/GoogleSatelliteMap/3 till 20 ( also capitals used???)

Will any screen print help?

Thanks for your swift reply. Yes acros the screen in capitals NO MAP DATA I changed from default to map also I tried , Terrain , satelite and Hybrid(Googlr only) All no succes. As the map is made by ardupilit with goigle hybrid and Gmapresize is Googl HybridMap So default is google The GPS data is from an openXsensor? Must be no problem. Hobby4life is working.

That is exactly as I see it so correct yes. On your widget screen do you see no map data? And do you see current GPS coordinates? Screen type in widget configuration must be map not default.

Looks like we are neer a solution. My situation is, R6plus receiver used the SPORT from the smal connector. Transmitter FrSky x20s latest SW What exactly and where to change the UART setting? Or must I use a servo input as SPORT?

I got hobby4life working more easily but I feel Yaapu telemetry widget relies on FRsky pass through telemetry. With a SPort telemetry I got GPS coordinates but no maps in Yaapu. Changing my UART that's connected to the SPort to be FRsky pass through telemetry got it working.

Thanks Left under corner is giving a huige figure as size of distance of the map? 26214400m at zoom 1 While i choose a much more smaller area around my house. Thus huge figer changes when i zoom in/out. Must you choose a zoom factor in the ardupilot map?

I only used satellite maps in mission planner prefetch and in the widget. If you konky capture levels 3 to 20 obviously you can't zoom out beyond level 3 or it will say no map data

Exacy i did the same. Zoom at 20 gives 50m. I see the GPS dot traveling around. Look good to me. In gnapresize i choose sd card root. This placed the map files in maps like SD:/bitmaps/yaapu/maps/GoogleSatelliteMap with 20 files

In mission planner after you get a GPS fix you draw a rectangle using CTRL-mouse click then right click the rectangle and select map..prefetch. that will cause a download of the location. Yes zoom 1 to 20 . Then run gmapresize select ethos and choose a storage location. Then move to the correct SD location . When I first run the widget after a GPS fix I see zoom 1 which is like half of Europe! Zoom 20 gives the detailed local view but apparently if you change location the GPS coordinates set the correct map tiles

Hallo bakerpip, I think the monkey is comming out of the sleeve! On the SPORT i connected direct my GPS sensor. No use of a fc flight controller. This is maybe the problem? I will uze this set-up in a fixed wing glider

Hello bakerpip, New day new changes, I had a look into the system. Two possibilities, 1 change the yaapu software to be able to function without a fc. Which i do not have the lua prog. Skills 2 i install. a fc and config with inav or arcuplane.

Option 2 i can use yaapu as it is. And gives more possibilities.

So i think of an speedybee f405 fixed wing app. In that case i still can use my receiver the frsky 6d plus with sbus. Is this a wise approche?

Any way many thanks for you support and time spent to have a look into this isseu. Finnaly i made a mis justment on the sentence this will work on almost any flight controller. Sorry It is a steap learning curve.

I think it's a good approach as it mirrors what I have so I know it would work! Also the speedybee gives wireless access to your mission planner for field mods! Also you would get the stability etc. One big caveat! You need an inverter between the UART if the F405 and the sport. I paid £12 from Amazon and it has the needed cables! I can send a link.

Edgeflyer30 Thanks for your encouraging reply. Oh yes a F405 gives even more thi gs to thi k over. Like the inverter. You mentioned sport but the manual speaks about a sbus. Not the same? Remains the question why yaapu is not showing the map. After all the telemetry works. Must be something in the serial telemetry string? I think it's a good approach as it mirrors what I have so I know it would work! Also the speedybee gives wireless access to your mission planner for field mods! Also you would get the stability etc. One big caveat! You need an inverter between the UART if the F405 and the sport. I paid £12 from Amazon and it has the needed cables! I can send a link.

Hello bakerpip, New day new changes, I had a look into the system. Two possibilities, 1 change the yaapu software to be able to function without a fc. Which i do not have the lua prog. Skills 2 i install. a fc and config with inav or arcuplane.

Option 2 i can use yaapu as it is. And gives more possibilities.

So i think of an speedybee f405 fixed wing app. In that case i still can use my receiver the frsky 6d plus with sbus. Is this a wise approche?

Any way many thanks for you support and time spent to have a look into this isseu. Finnaly i made a mis justment on the sentence this will work on almost any flight controller. Sorry It is a steap learning curve.

I am no expert but my conclusion was that the Yaapu script was written for pass through telemetry i.e. taking the telemetry from the flight controller and passing it through the FRsky rx SPort. This is different in my mind to using the rxs own telemetry. I may be wrong but for me setting the FC output to FRsky sport does not work even though I see GPS at the X20. Changing to FRsky throughput telemetry after a rediscover of GPS at the X20 immediately worked. Sbus is the data stream from Rx to FC. Sport is the data stream from FC (or sensors if no FC) to Rx thence to X20 tx. Technically you can combine the two streams using FRsky Fport which your Rx6+ can do but I have no experience of that so I stick to sbus and sport as separate streams.

Thanks, Just reading the copter on github which explain the passthroug etc. Interresting. Also tested the openXsensor with the date and time. Same result.No map. So Speedybee must solve the issue. This widget (Ethos Mapping Widget) does NOT require passthrough not frsky hardware, it simply needs a valid GPS source to be selected from the widget configuration menu.

If you use ardupilot please DO NOT use the mapping widget but rather use the Telemetry Widget (which btw requires passthrough)

@ilioSS53 if you can display GPS coordinates the widget MUST work, it must be an issue with the MAP tiles

@ilioSS53 @bakerpip @edgeflyer30 as you pointed out there was a bug in the gmapresizetool when used with EThos that made it harder to place the tiles in the correct path. I fixed and updated it so if you could please confirm that the tool is (finally) working as expected it would be great.
