I'm so frustrated and angry on your behalf that it is so hard. I just clocked my ESTA application (US Visa waiver program, as I dont need a proper VISA for travels to US less than 90 days) and it tok me 20 minutes (10 of which was getting a decent photo of my passport) and 21USD... The difference is staggering!
Of course its not granted yet, but I have no reason to believe it wont be so in very short time.
Thank you for sharing, Mo. Learn about the differences helps us to understand and to try to improve.
it tok them an hour to grant me the VISA waiver. so, yeah. I have another 6USD to spend before entering, which is closer to the date I'm travelling (a type of on-line checkin to the country). And, its a VISA waiver, so I'd need to do this again every 2 years. But, thats tiny for the amount of effort. So ridiculously different.
But I dont know what a proper VISA would mean though, it would like be much much more, but still nothing compared to yours.
Thanks Yani! Excellent post, and very helpful. I’m helping my partner to start this journey, and he feels overwhelmed when listening to the word Visa. He needs a Visa just in case he has a travel opportunity in the next 2 years: Last year there was an International Magic Congress in Canada, and several Latins missed their spots in the contest (having paid the inscription in advance). They needed two Visas: one for Canada and another to stay in the NY airport during the flight scale. Also, you need English proficiency to fill the form, and I know people that have paid a gestor for this. I find the questions about illegal activities and political ideology stigmatizing and denigrating. Awful experience
