Crashes on Huge Map with Planes Version 3.7.6-patch1 --- Fix by updating to Version 3.9.0-patch2 #2690

FYI Playing on a nice 10" Android tablet at 2k Res, ask me for screenshots! If you want to direct how those come about you might be better to send me some me save game states, point me to a location, and let me know what options you would like turned on for the shots. 😊 Otherwise it's from two huge Siam games, and one tiny England game ... there might be a tiny Spain game on here, too. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The Incident The game crashes and glitches once planes get involved. I was running an older version (and have just updated, will test on that shortly), but it seems to basically crawl when there's a lot of units and one starts to bring planes into the equation.

The Details I'm on my second huge map as Siam running on a marathon, chieftain, ancient, start, with 4 AIs, and 8 city states, running on a galaxy tab s4. I had more AIs and cities last time.

When it gets to late game, a thousand turns or so, with many units, as soon as planes get involved the game just starts to really slow down.

Plus it gets glitches on carriers, often reporting very different numbers of planes than set by me, and sometimes reporting planes in the middle of the open ocean with no obvious carrier in sight. EDIT - I've just moved a carrier, and it left some units in the sea ... EDIT 2 - I've confirmed this behaviour with three carriers, 5 bombers on each (one set of bombardment, two seige), on each move each carrier leaves 4 bombers behind. This happens whether the bombers are asleep or not. Tested on a carrier with maximum armour plating and 2 fighters next, and it's the same result.

If it weren't for the glitch I feel there could be maybe something device specific (memory related?), but the glitch makes me learn toward game function.

I wondered if it was the amount of workers I had, but I've started wiping out the automated ones, and only have a maximum of twenty, I think.

I've just sent a crash report, in game, but even that struggled. I've also ensured that other running processes are at a minimum, and tried logging/reloading. I have saved 9 save games and 10 autosaves that i will include in an email to the play store support address with screen shots of what I hope is useful game and tablet data.

Just wanted to say that those isn't a complaint, or a whinge, you're doing amazing work here. Nor am I feeling entitled to, or expecting, any support here. I'm purely letting you know the incident that I've seen repeat itself twice now, with no obvious work around, and no perceivable fix.

I'm going to look in to a way to donate, by the way, because unciv has me loving civ again after civ6 now makes me shrug at the thought of it.

Looks like it's an issue with Version 3.7.6-patch1.

Version 3.9.0-patch2 seems to fix it.

I guess this is a lesson to me to update!!! 🤪😉😏

I'll email you about sending screenshots, if you still want the data from these tests/issues, lemme know there.
