If we're dealing with a measure-based record-mode, we should be able to directly support exporting to MMA. This doesn't help with the live-record-playing, but it might if we have our own definitions of certain variations and translate those to MMA... Basically, there'd be a set of push-buttons to define the next measure as something different than this one. Those buttons would map to fixed results for record-mode, and would also map to specific variations of the theme for MMA.
