Cannot POST content from a generator

What steps will reproduce the problem?
import httlib2
import poster
fields = { 'file' : open('somefile', 'rb') }
body, headers = poster.encode.multipart_encode(fields)                          

content = httplib2.Http().request(url, method="POST", headers=headers, 
body=body)    

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
