Hi @tooptoop4, I'm not the one who can push this. It seems that Apache Ranger PMCs do not care much about this feature.

That is sad, having a good authorization layer for sparksql is a must :(

hi @ptallada, the Apache submarine has taken over this project as a sub-module. so there will be an 'official' place to maintain this feature as time goes on. You can join the discussion there https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SUBMARINE-409 and try it as you wish.
