I have a similar problem:
I have a profile (SOCKS: localhost: 9999)
Switching to Direct Connection, does nothing whatsoever.
Whatismyip.com shows that I am still using my proxy.
If I kill my ssh tunnel, so the proxy becomes unavailable, first then Direct
Connection takes effect.
I have seen similar problems switching the proxy ON, if my ssh tunnel was not
running, Chrome appears to ignore the auto-config file and just use whatever
worked
last, and even after enabling my ssh tunnel, Chrome refuses to honor the
Switchy's
auto-config rule.
This is Chrome 5.0.307.7 beta running on Ubuntu 9.04.

It seems like Switchy can't change IE's proxy settings..
To diagnose this problem, let's start by disabling all options in IE proxy
settings
dialog.
1. Now open Switchy menu, do you see a check mark besides "Direct Connection"
item?
2. Open this page (chrome://net-internals/proxyservice.config), do you see
something
like this:
====
Automatic settings:
Auto-detect: No
Custom PAC script: [None]
Manual settings:
Proxy server: [None]
Bypass list: [None]
Bypass local names: No
====
3. Now choose UltraSurf profile and check (1.) and (2.) again, what's changed?
@karl.lillevold Is this problem still not solved in the new version 1.6.3?

I think you are talking about the options in the “connections” tab >
“Dialup and
virtual private network settings” > “settings” > “automatic
configuration” & “proxy
server” (they are already disabled for me)
1. Yes, there is a checkmark.
2. That is exactly what I see.
After choosing UltraSurf profile, the checkmark is moved next to it. But there
is no
change in the “proxyservice.config” page.
(no, [None], [None], [None], no)

Well, it seems that you use a dial-up/VPN connection to access the internet but
didn't
enable this option "Options > Network tab > Proxy for VPN/Dial-up".
If so, please enable it, choose the connection name and save. Switchy! should
work fine
now..

OK,
I enabled the proxy setting for my connection, but still no change.
Also, I found that switchy! is working, but it's not changing the proxy
settings for
my connection, instead it is changing the proxy settings in "LAN settings"!
In the LAN settings, the "automatic configuration script" address field is set
to
this value:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User
Data\Default\Extensions\caehdcpeofiiigpdhbabniblemipncjj\1.5.0.8\plugins\Switchy
Socks.pac?1266505670299
and every time I change proxy profile in switchy!, the proxy server settings are
changed proportionally.
So I tried to copy this address into my connection’s settings. (There is an
automatic
configuration script field too)
But it didn’t work.
Switchy is changing LAN settings, but internet explorer has stated near LAN
settings
that:
“LAN Settings do not apply to dial-up connections.”
(I'm using internet explorer 8)

Switchy changes LAN proxy settings by default, but if the option "Proxy for
VPN/Dial-
up" is enabled, it'll change the selected connection's proxy settings too.
Is your connection's name in English?
And did you check if its proxy settings are changed after selecting the
UltraSurf
profile?

1.6.3 seems to have resolved my problem, but Google Chrome Beta also
auto-updated this
morning. Sometimes my problem was hard to repro, then Switchy would suddenly
stop
working, but so far, so good.

Oops! I'm so sorry :">
"Options > Network tab > Proxy for VPN/Dial-up"
I thought you were talking about "Dialup and virtual private network settings"
in IE.
After changing this setting in switchy! everything was fixed. Its working fine
now.
Thank you very much.

Hi, similar problem for me too.
I setup Ultrasurf paramters and when I click to select it from switchy!
filtered pages
are still filtered; if I check internet options from the control panel the
ultrasurf
proxy is set ... but it seems switchy! doesn't do it's job :-(
I've XP Pro SP3 and version 1.6.3 of Switchy!
Would you be so kind to help me to understand where's the problem?
Thanks
