[BUG]: It seems the tidal downloader doesn't work anymore? #290

Describe the bug

When I try to download I get a blank screen in the app with buttons at the bottom saying previous and next.

Relevant log output

No response

Had the same problem. The fix was rather easy: Tidals new system of sharing puts "?u" at the end of every link. Remove that and it should work again. Would be cool if the app could automatically ignore it

It seems the recent hi-res releases are no more with Tidal.GUI. Only Lossless is available.

@aspinola73 not I don't think this has something to do with Tidal-gui. I can still see and download hi-res:

As you can see the songs in this album are ~1900 kbps.

Hello. The new releases are no longer available on tidal.gui in HI-RES, only LOSSLESS.

Also:

As far as I know, according to Tidal, everything higher than 16bit 44.1khz is considered hi-res. Am I misunderstanding something?

Hi. When i say Hi-Res i mean MAX. In the last 2-3 months the new releases MAX [M] are not available.

Yes. You can still find many older releases Hi-Res [M]. New releases only Lossless. I think the tidal.gui needs some kind of update.

I'll try to see if I can download hi-res flac (not mqa) with other tidal downloaders on github. So far I've tried these 2, but both didn't work at all for me (Windows), I created issues there: https://github.com/exislow/tidal-dl-ng https://github.com/MinisculeGirraffe/tdl

Based on the titles of those issues, it's worth noting that "both didn't work at all for me (Windows)" isn't talking about the quality of downloads available through those tools, but more the issues that @MozgC is having running the tools at all.

The authour of exislow/tidal-dl-ng has fixed the issue with the Windows version, so in the meantime you guys can use it (download the latest release) to download hi-res flac. I'll try to look into this issue with Tidal-Media-Downloader, but no guarantees & timelines.
