Still running 1.2.0.5. and no problems. ►you have to have a HiRes(Premium) Tidal subscription(Master) ►check box ♬Master next to video icon ►don't forget the paste the right bearers Access token in the settings.
I have Tidal HiFi Premium. You can download with 'Master' set without error. But the quality isnt 24bit it is 16 bit. Try download an album and check it with mediainfo. It will be same bitrate as normal FLAC, around 970 kb/s.
UPDATE: The python version is downloading in master quality. Tidal-GUI is not.

Hi MusicBits, I noticed the same lately... but I think it's an issue with Tidal. I noticed quite a LOT of MQA albums became available lately. (David Bowie almost all albums now, pink floyd the same) And I noticed that (almost) all the extra albums show 16 bit 44.1 kHz and NOT 24 bit 44.1 kHz.
It took me a while but I came upon these two albums (Bloodsport by Suede);
https://tidal.com/browse/album/19227219 https://tidal.com/browse/album/68737419
Both are MQA 44.1 but when I play them in Audirvana one shows 16 bit 44.1 (with a green dot) - master quality the other shows 24 bit 44.1 (with a blue dot) - master studio quality
My MQA decoder shows the same information : MQA 44.1 for the first album MQA. 44.1 for the second (mind the extra dot after mqa denoting studio approval)
I ripped both albums and then played them again in Audirvana and they show the same information (16 bit for the first and 24 bit for the second one) Looking at the size of both folders the one is 284Mb and the other 584MB (or 300MB extra !)
So in my opinion it's not the ripper doing something wrong, but it's Tdl that for some reason is offering new albums in lower quality... And I assume they do it because the files are much smaller to save on bandwith ?
I have never heard of 16 bit MQA files ... but apparently this is what TDL is now offering now. I am also wondering WHY they are doing this, as I can image this is a BIG drawback on audio quality AND I assume there is no improvement over CD quality this way ?
P.S. I just saw you added a new comment that the Python version does download in Master Quality and Tidal-GUI is not... Can you give a link of an album where you see this behaviour ???
Wim1975 - https://tidal.com/browse/album/161111442
This do not download from WEB-gui at all. Downloaded the same in python version and went fine. Although bitrate is in the low end, but that goes well with what you just described. Shame they lowered the quality.
Downloading this via python gives much higher bitrate than the first you linked.: https://tidal.com/browse/album/68737419
At the moment, decrypts fails in gui for both albums.
Hi MusicBits, I thought Tidal doesn't allow master files to be played in a web environment. You need to use the desktop app for that. So I assume the same happens for the web-gui. No master quality there... the files are streamed as 16bit 44.1khz (or 48khz maybe sometimes).
I ripped the album you mentioned using the desktop app and it gave me an 24bit 44.1kHz MQA. (green dot when playing)
P.S. I also ripped the other "Disco" ablum https://tidal.com/browse/album/161112150 (the NOT deluxe version with less tracks) This one is also 24bit 44.1kHz MQA... BUT it is studio approved (shows a blue dot when playing !).
Grts ! ;-)

I found an explanation why a huge amount of MQA's are now released in 16bit 44.1kHz. In the early days of CD sometimes only recordings of 44.1kHz 16bit were made (unfortunately!). MQA does improve those recordings...
This section : Bob Stuart, MQA founder, explained, “By paying great attention to the nature of sound and the way we hear, MQA opens a clear window and delivers all the detail and nuance of the original song. The music industry’s catalog contains millions of significant performances from the early days of CD where, sometimes, the recording was created in 44.1kHz 16bit and where no alternative existed. We are delighted that Warner Music Group is bringing this content to TIDAL.”
I cant download MQA :(

ENG: The problem is the Tidal servers, not updated, because in the labels it shows "Master", but it downloads it as a normal CD. Weeks ago I tried to download a Led Zeppelin album that said "Master" quality and it only lowered CD quality (16 / 44.1), now I could download it in Master quality (24/48), not everything with Master quality is physically updated, as It seems they are doing it gradually ...

The program do not download in master quality. It is same quality as normal flac. Spek and mediainfo confirms this. Is there any fix for this?
