3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I get 'Unable to open connection to - Unknown network error'

Try this instead:

putty -cygterm -

Sorry -- that is exactly what I was trying, I mis-typed the post. Same thing
happens
if I select the Cygterm radio button and - in the "Command (use - for login
shell)"
text box of the Putty Configuration dialog box. Many apologies for the typo.

I am getting this same error now, when I use "putty -cygterm -" .

Any advice?

I cannot reproduce this. Can you attach your settings? From a console:

reg export HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY putty.reg

And attach the resulting putty.reg file.

Well, thank the Invisible Pink Unicorn, because the issue went away after a
reboot.

I should note that I installed Cygwin, un-installed it (because I installed it
to the
wrong path) then re-installed it. puttycyg worked after the first install,
didn't work
straight after the second install but worked after a re-boot.
