can't connect to /dev/ttyUSB0

[GoogleCodeExporter]

when running HTCFLasher on ubuntu karmic 64bit i get the following error when 
trying to 
connect to the htc blackstone:

/dev/ttyUSB0: Device or resource busy
[!!] Can't connect to /dev/ttyUSB0

/dev/ttyUSB0 is visible, trying as sudo changes the error to can't write to 
/dev/ttyUSB0 ... 
anybody know a fix?

I think you need to be root to connect.
