I suspect you are running out of RAM, i.e. running into this: https://github.com/ycm-core/YouCompleteMe/wiki/FAQ#i-get-an-internal-compiler-error-when-installing

FYI, running with YCM_CORES=1
failed at the same spot. It's a small virtual server with 1GB memory. Adding 1GB swap space installed successfully.
