SaveData.dat invalid filesize, with error 0xfffffffe. #131

Closed Kygdom closed 8 years ago

Kygdom commented 8 years ago

When i try to install Menuhax, just after the line "Loading SaveData.dat" i have the following message : "The SaveData.dat filesize is invalid. This may mean you're running menuhax_manager on an unsupported system version", with the error code being "0xfffffffe".

My system-version is Old3DS 11.0.0-33 EUR. I took the most recent homebrew starter kit and unziped menuhax 3.0. I have no idea what i could have done wrong.

Btw, browserhax works very well.

batman5241 commented 8 years ago

@Unknownstarz93 oh my gosh thanks it worked thanks dude the only thing is i wish i did that earlier cause i booted with browser hacks like 50 times

conornolan123 commented 8 years ago

@yellows8 im having a problem related to this, im running 11.0-33u on my 3ds, but it says "The SaveData.dat filesize is invalid. This may mean your running menuhax_manager on an unsupported system-version Install failed: 0xfffffffe.

korjal commented 8 years ago

you dont have to lose your save you could just replace the files after you installed the homebrew

RagingIceSprite commented 8 years ago

Trying to homebrew my 3ds and I am having the same issue. However, when I rename the extdata folder, my monster hunter generations save data gets deleted off of the SD card. Is there any way that I can replace the contents of the extdata folder so I can keep my save data after I install menuhax?

yellows8 commented 8 years ago

You're not supposed to rename the 'extdata' directory, only the one for Home Menu mentioned above.

SoraHjort commented 8 years ago

[See Edit2 at bottom]

I'm having this issue as well. Deleting the directories and making sure the theme data is recreated by the 3DS's theme manager, isn't fixing it for me.

Hardware: Old 3DS Ver: 11.0.0-33 USA Method of accessing homebrew: BrowserHax

Same error log as everyone else is giving.

edit: added the method of getting to the homebrew incase that is relevant.

Edit2: Seems I was going at the wrong folder. Thought it was a similar problem I had last year, so I was deleting/renaming that folder instead of the correct one.

Zerofoxgiven commented 8 years ago

I deleted my full extdata folder on accident... what will happen now??? The homebrew launcher CIA doesn't work anymore, it crashes at the yellow screen :( EDIT: Nevermind, menuhax now fully installed, thanks guys!

Zerofoxgiven commented 8 years ago

Menuhax gives me a black screen after I installed it though. Had to remove the SD card and change the theme.

yellows8 commented 8 years ago

@Zerofoxgiven "The homebrew launcher CIA " Why are you using menuhax then?

"change the theme." This issue is only for sdiconhax.....

Kerasu commented 8 years ago

For those asking what to rename the extdata file to, you can name it anything you want. I literally just renamed mine "rename" and it installed fine after that.

Kerasu commented 8 years ago

@yellows8 Ok so I got this to work, but now when I go to my Mii Plaza all the games I've played had the data erased? How do I fix this? I kept a backup and everything on my computer.

Kerasu commented 8 years ago

Derp nevermind I fixed it. It had to do with the files "0000008f" and "000002cd". I had to keep the new ones made in the new extdata file for those and then transfer all my stuff from my original extdata file to the new one without replacing those 2.

yellows8 commented 8 years ago

I specifically said to only touch the Home Menu extdata.....

Kerasu commented 8 years ago

Ahh whoops. Yeah I just saw that. I have a weird way of figuring things out I guess.. Sorry about that.

yellows8 commented 7 years ago

This is completely unrelated, read the actual displayed message & README ......

Rocket411 commented 7 years ago

ok, having the same error code and issue as all these guys, do I rename the exdata file itself, or do I just rename the file when you open it??

also, my error code is:

also, do I need luma cwf if I already have homebrew?

loadstarnes commented 7 years ago

I'm too tired to read the whole thing but you should rename the extdata FOLDER (aka Directory). All this is doing is tricking the DS into thinking it doesn't have the extdata setup yet, so it creates it again...

yellows8 commented 7 years ago

That has absolutely nothing to do with this issue.
