MarkerManager and Prototype don't play well together

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add an import of 
http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/prototype/1.6.0.3/prototype.js to the 
Google North American Offices example.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The markers don't load.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
On 1.0 release branch on OS X 10.5.5 with Safari 3.1.2 and Firefox 2.0.0.18.

Please provide any additional information below.

FWIW, it also doesn't work with MooTools: 
http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/mootools/1.2.1/mootools.js

The two issues are probably related, which is why I'm not filing a separate bug.

This is not an marker manager issue, it is the sample itself. It's fixed at r892

The sample just missed an check and those ajax libs throw in lots of stuff at
object.prototype.
