Doesn't the isomorphism breaking down for higher dimensions imply that symmetry group arguments are not sufficient for the establishment of a dictionary (since other constraints as you've discussed here could come in and spoil the party)? Otherwise, the symmetry group of the boundary theory would have to not be SO(9) for some reason (be it because it's non-conformal or because it breaks SUSY) so that the whole thing could in essence work out.

@belshimy, that is correct. Symmetry arguments are certainly not enough to establish a dictionary. As I stated above, the most that you can get are kinematical relations (as several papers have already found in both the Carroll and celestial holography community). Ideally I would want a direct dictionary saying, "this correlator calculate the virasoro amplitude for IIB". My point is that finding the dual in flat space isn't just as easy as unraveling AdS5xS5 to R^{1,9}. For the full theory, it seems like we want some R^{1,4} x something where Carroll CFT lives on the boundary of R^{1,4}.
