There is quite a lot in here. Mainly I was driven by the commit by @lucabelmondo but in the end did something quite different (hopefully in the same spirit). The name of the branch is misleading at the moment. Here's a list of things that I did:
Use colour 15 for text. It was strange using colour 7 and I think the only reason we started that way was to accommodate solarized.
Create less garish borders. Unfortunately, trying all colour combination for each of the supported palettes resulted in borders that are darker than I would like in some of the palettes. In my opinion, this is the best compromise, though. Feel free to submit alternatives, but please test all of the palettes to show that the alternative has acceptable contrast in all of them.
Create folded sections that don't look like they are highlighted.
Add org mode styles
Update the light and dark palettes to look a bit better. These will soon be replaced with palettes generated by agnostic-builder, though. (To be honest, I haven't checked these in a while so I'm not sure what they look like -- I'm using the ones in agnostic-builder at the moment).
Copy example text files from Solarized for use in testing the highlighting.
I hope nobody minds, but I've had this branch out for ages, so I want to merge now. If you really don't like it, I will revert later.
