Variaties of EID cards #126

Dear all

One of our programmers asked the following question, and I can't answer him...
could one of you answer his question?

Our programmers have confirmed that they have one identity card and we believe
the other is within our tech room for our internal testing. Our programmers and
ourselves are under the impression that there are 4 unique identity cards or
variants of the identity card that need to work with the system. If this is the
case then the maximum number of variations that we could test to is 2
variations provided the 2 cars in our possession represent 2 of the 4 variants.

Could you please confirm if there are 4 variants of the Belgium Identity Card.
If this is the case, we will need all 4 variants to verify the interaction of
the Citizen CMP-20 printer’s ICR with the software.

We look forward to your reply.

Thx

Jacques

Hello,

And sorry for the late reply, I was on holidays

There are currently 3 eID chip versions active in the field.
The oldest ones (sifa 22 module) will all be replaced by October 2014 though,
so soon there will be only 2 versions.

In our release notes (http://eid.belgium.be/nl/binaries/RN406_tcm227-238941.pdf
(check for version 3.5.5 , sifa 22 and world module)), you can find images of
the 2 oldest chips still in the field (the newest chips (release dates starting
from March 2014 have even more rounded corners than the 'world' module))

There are also some variations on the content placed on the eID card (e.g.
child ID's that do not have authentication or signature certificates (or only
authentication certificates))

Wkr,
 Frederik
