No notifications after signing up for Newsletter #1292

When a user wants to sign up for the email updates they can use the Sign Up form in footer.

A user enters email address and clicks on the 'Sign Up' button. The page refreshes but nothing happens – no notification about adding into the mailing list appears, no confirmation email is sent.

@akaleMulder where did you get this screenshot. I can't see this on latest sandbox and OpenY. Probably this was an example of what could be added into footer without any integration so far

I'm a Open Y site customer
I'm visiting any page on a site to be able to subscribe for news
I'm filling my email in a footer input and receive no messages about state of subscription after pressing Submit button

Resolution

I should receive a message on a screen about subscribed in case of success or failed in case of error to understand my action was proceed

@AndreyMaximov can we get a status update on this item? If we need more details, I can add the above user story for the work currently in Basecamp.

@podarok do you want this to remain with 5Jars to investigate or is it an item that you could work on while they are focused on smoke tests for Drupal 9?

@sarah-halby I'm not sure we should spend time on this right now. As the smallest effort, we could create a demo webform in OpenY and replace the placeholder block with a webform's input field. This would take probably 3-5 Story Points to implement, but in the end majority of the Ys would use an external email marketing system.
