Maya: Assign Look to Arnold Scene Source Proxy is not working #539

Open LiborBatek opened 1 month ago

LiborBatek commented 1 month ago

Is there an existing issue for this?

Current Behavior:

When producing Look and trying to assign it to the Arnold Scene Source Proxy doesnt work.

The issue probably is not any failure assigning the look but more like an issue with switching during render time for other standin (as the active one being the proxy and not the content one in the viewport when assigning look)

Note: assigning look on the Arnold Scene Source product does work normally, as there wont happen any standin switching later on when rendering, so the look got propagated when rendering the standin.

Expected Behavior:

Ideally user should be able to use look on both type of standin Ayon offers not just for one type (Arnold Scene Source)

Version

1.0.0

What platform you are running on?

Windows

Steps To Reproduce:

  1. Publish Arnold Scene Source Proxy
  2. Publish or use existing Look for the given asset (abc)
  3. Load standin from step 1
  4. Use Look Assigner for applying the Look from step 2
  5. No errors will be given but when rendered, standin will not be shaded according to the look

Are there any labels you wish to add?

@BigRoy Do you have any idea how to solve this? Would be lovely if functional also for Arnold Scene Source Proxy products...

Unfortunately this isn't in my area of expertise, I'm not entirely sure how/why/when these proxy to render arnold standins get swapped. I suppose through Arnold operators?

I could look into it if needed - but it's not something I say have an "aha, click here to fix" thought about. :)
