iphone software update from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 #55

I have the 1.0.2. version in my iphone right now but I want to upgrade it
to the 1.1.1 version but since my phone has been unlocked (since it's being
used in pakistan) and I also use the installer software so it has third
party applications running, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to upgrade it.
I'm not even sure if it can be done because I can't find relevant
information online. If I upgrade through itunes, will it lock my phone?
Please help asap !

download the latest version of iNdependence 
(http://code.google.com/p/independence/) and follow the 
instructions in the Help menus.
