Popping Sounds #447

I have successfully installed the forked version of MAME 0.250 to my Apple TV 4K and my iPhone 11. I am using roms from version 0.255. Every game I try on both devices keeps making popping sounds during gameplay. These same roms work without issue on MAME 0.255 for Windows 11 and SDL MAME 0.255 for MacOS 13. I have tried all of the different sound and video options, but the problem persists. Please let me know where I’m going wrong. Thank you.

Yea we have a sound issue, and it has been getting worse. I need to look into it. I have noticed it is especially worse on macOS. I once thought it was related to the number of worker threads MAME used, but gots lots of problems esp. on macOS, anyway more investigation needed.

What romsets and on what OS version are you seeing the worse audio issues?

The romset is 0.256. The popping sound is worse on my Apple TV 4k (latest version of TVOS) but definitely noticeable on my iPhone 11 (latest version of iOS) as well.
