Reading Asian Text Properly #211

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Hi,

I am asking if a proper display of Asian language will be available in quelea
2014? Not all languages are written and read from left to right in Asia,
notably the Chinese, Japanese and the language of the Lord's people, Hebrew.

I have been following the progress of quelea for more than a year now and I am
now enjoying the software with its features such as video background.

I hope quelea can display properly Hebrew and other right to left direction
characters.

Thank you.

Hi, we'd love to do this but it's made difficult because no-one on the team
understands such a language! Could you take a screenshot of a right to left
language as it looks at the moment, and explain what's wrong and what needs to
change?

Hi!

Thanks for the response. It took me some time to return here.

The problems and the proper display of Hebrew texts were discussed properly in
this paper though no way recommendation as to how to correct it:
https://www.tug.org/TUGboat/tb20-1/tb62tole.pdf

If it is not clear, then please let me know. I wish to help clear things.

Thanks.

Hey,

Thanks for the link, though I'm afraid we're going to need a bit more
information about specifically what doesn't display properly in Quelea (and
what it should display as) to be able to fix it - I can't really tell directly
from looking at that article!

If you have a screenshot or two of what an incorrect display of the text looks
like in Quelea, and then a mockup of what it should look like, we can go from
there and hopefully then look to fix the issues.

Thanks,
