Opening second instance of meld results in it hanging [only in High Sierra] #59

Situation:

  1. I open meld, eg. open /Applications/Meld.app/ &
  2. While the first instance is still open, I open another meld instance.
  3. This second instance just bobs up and down in the dock forever. Frustrating.
  4. To close the second instance, I have to hit "Force quit"

Notes:

Strangely, if you close the second instance and open another meld instance, this 3rd one opens with no problem. Weird!

Btw, I was on El Capitan a month ago and NEVER had this problem. I only got this issue once I upgraded to High Sierra (hate sierra!)

Is it possible to implement --newtab for meld in macos? This would avoid my issue altogether. It's in the meld manual: http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/man1/meld.1.html Example usage: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/27926275/open-new-tab-in-existing-meld-instance-via-a-command-line

I've seen the hang, and I've observed that --newtab is ignored. These are deal-killers for me.
